April is garlic month, and what better way to mark it than the warm, intense flavour of a sumptuous, pull-apart loaf? Don’t be deceived by the name. This easy crowd-pleaser is an allergy-friendly, plant-based alternative to the buttery, cheesy favourite. Chives and basil add extra zing to a quick, savoury spread distributed between slices of our delicious Millet & Chia bread. Warm from the oven, this is the perfect appetizer or complement to dinner.
Preheat oven to 350F and lightly grease an 8×4 loaf pan.
Make a flax egg by combining the warm water and ground flax together and allowing to sit for 10 mins. Once thickened, add all ingredients expect for the cheese shreds and bread and mix together well.
Spread the mixture evenly over both sides of bread slices. Arrange slices in the pan so the cut sides are facing each other. Distribute shreds between slices and on top of the loaf.
Bake until fragrant, lightly golden brown and the cheese is melted.
